Founded in 1991, The Royalty Compliance Organization is dedicated to providing royalty compliance and intellectual property services on behalf of owners of copyrights, trademarks and patents.   We provide compliance and royalty collection issue resolution by performing royalty audits, recording and copyright valuations, and related financial services.  Today, RCO has the world’s largest compliance examination practice with affiliated offices in many major cities around the globe including London, New York, Nashville and Los Angeles. 

Our headquarters is in St. Louis, Missouri where we have a large team of dedicated licensing and royalty professionals servicing several hundred projects at any given time.  Along with our affiliates in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville and London, RCO serves all major licensing markets with the specialized expertise required for each industry’s financial practices.  With our network of compliance professionals, we can consistently perform outstanding royalty compliance practices using our unique brand of “completeness” testing over the outdated “sampling” methods in place within many auditing practices. 

RCO personnel travel the world providing royalty services on behalf of licensors, artists, writers, composers and other revenue/profit participants.  To date, we have performed thousands of engagements resulting in over a billion dollars (USD) in additional royalties due our clients.

In addition to servicing licensors, RCO specializes in providing many services to business managers, financial advisors, lawyers and large licensees.  And with many of today’s catalog acquisitions and secured funding opportunities, we have broadened our services to include financial due diligence and asset valuations.   And when disputes arise, we are often requested to provide litigation support services to prove your case. 

Our thorough investigation procedures and detailed compliance reports lead to recoveries of 10% to 50% or more of the original amounts reported, depending upon the industries audited.  In addition to the additional cash settlements for our clients, full compliance audits lead to improved royalty terms going forward and a stronger relationship between licensors and licensees.
